Message from your Principal

I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to students and parents joining us in 2020 as we return to our home on Macquarie Street and embark upon an exciting new chapter in Parramatta Public School’s learning journey in our new state-of-the-art facility. We will continue to provide our students with inspiring, high quality, and innovative learning in modern, flexible learning environments.

Our focus is on the education of the whole child, setting high expectations, striving for excellence and empowering our students to achieve their personal learning goals. Your children will always remain at the heart of what we do.

It has been an absolute privilege to be part of the journey from the beginning with a team of dedicated and talented staff. Collectively, we are excited to welcome you to another year of teaching and learning together.

Inside Our School

The 2020 school year at Parramatta Public School will be an exciting time for students, teachers, school administration staff, parents and carers as they start to use the new facilities.

The new Parramatta Public School will provide:

  • A new multi-storey public school for 1,000 students on the existing school site 
  • 40 permanent, flexible learning spaces and support areas
  • Modern indoor and outdoor landscaped spaces.

The learning spaces will be technology-rich to serve multiple learning contexts from large class groups to small clusters, providing better opportunities for collaboration and personalised learning.

The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) is responsible for the curriculum, Kindergarten to Year 12, for all NSW schools.

For the primary years, NESA develops syllabuses for all subjects in 6 key learning areas:

  • Creative arts
  • English
  • Human society and its environment (HSIE)
  • Mathematics
  • Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE)
  • Science and technology.

Some primary schools may also offer languages.

Like all NSW schools, we have developed teaching and learning programs to suit our local context and the needs of our students.

Stages of learning

There are 6 stages of learning from Kindergarten to Year 12. Primary school covers Early Stage 1, or Kindergarten, to the end of Stage 3.

  • Stage 1 includes Kindergarten to Year 2 (Kindergarten is referred to as Early Stage 1).
  • Stage 2 includes Years 3 and 4.
  • Stage 3 includes Years 5 and 6.
